High-temperature and frequency-dependent properties and structural evolution of HITPERM, an FeCo-base nanocomposite soft ferromagnetic material.

Frank is currently working in the magnetic materials group at NIST where he is looking at nanocomposite magnets for magnetocaloric cooling applications. Frank received a NASA fellowship for his graduate studies.

Colin earned his Masters in Mathematics in S03 from UCLA (unfortunately just a few months later and he would have gotten Schwartzenegger's signature instead of Davis' on the diploma!) and is continuing his pursuit of a PhD. He has passed his qualifying exams, and is working to extend his knowledge before beginning active research in complex algebraic geometry. He decided to have laser eye surgery (May 04) and describes the results as remarkable.

Rebecca is at the tail end of finishing her thesis for a master's degree at Lincoln University in Canterbury, New Zealand. The degree is called a Master's of Resource Studies, which is basically a degree that looks at incorporating theories of social sciences into natural resource managment. Her thesis focuses on the management of one of the game animal species in the mountains of the South Island. A significant change from her undergrad degree in engineering!

Asumini is a Materials Engineer at Pratt working in the Advanced Coatings group in Research and development. Katie is working on exchange spring magnets in collaboration with a chemist to deposit a soft coating on a hard particle. She spends the bulk of her time melt spinning ribbons in collaboration with a group in Georgia that is doing shock and explosive compaction to achieve 100% density and grain size reduction.

Dan moved to France and is not married yet, though he has been in a committed relationship for the last three years with a French woman he met at Cornell. He is very happy with his position in Strasbourg, with BASF. It is BASF's attempt to try something really new and have a research lab in an academic institution - It is getting a lot of attention from industry as a high-risk, high-payoff experiment. Dan has developed the website for this venture (http://www-isis.u-strasbg.fr/BASF/). Dan's girlfriend is a materials scientist as well and is working on the mechanical properties of bulk metallic glasses, as well as reinforcement of silica by SiC nanoparticles.

Since graduating, Scott has held jobs such as patent examiner, process and design engineer, visiting assistant professor and research associate. Scott currently is paid as a lab instructor part time, and part time Research Associate in the MEMS lab cleanroom. He does research with undergraduates. He has filed a business with Indiana, called K&D Design and Development Corp and is working with a couple of different research topics right now: SmCo- and carbon; shape memory alloy heat engines; igniters for missile batteries; MEMS optical delay lines and waveguides in printed circuit boards. Scott and Elaine have a son Ryan and another on the way due in September/end of August. The current name selection is Liam Jacob.
