Biography

Sridhar Seetharaman obtained his undergraduate degree from the Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) and his PHD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA). He spent 1 year as a research associate at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (London, UK).

Research Interests

The research activities in my group are aimed at understanding the kinetics and thermodynamics of high temperature reactions and transformations that are relevant for processing and performance of metals and for high-temperature fossil-fuel applications. This includes studies on metal extraction, refining, casting and oxidation as well as slag evolution during gasification of coal and petcoke. We also carry out investigations on thermo-physical properties of metallic and slag melts. Our primary focus is on steels and we utilize experimental methods of study.
